Kalakalappu 2 Movie Review Movie Review
Sundar C is back with ‘Kalakalappu’ franchise, this time with huge star-cast. Jiiva, Jai, Catherine Tresa and Nikki Galrani are playing the lead roles alongside Mirchi Shiva. Hip Hop Aadhi has composed music for this film with UK Senthil Kumar handling cinematography.
The story revolves around a lodge in Varanasi, which is owned on lease by Jiiva, who has responsibilities of getting his younger sister married. Then, there is Jai who wants to inherit his ancestral property in the same town of Varanasi. A corrupt minister (Madhusudhan) has his laptop loaded with accounts on his wealth and property to a chartered accountant (Munishkanth). The drama unfolds the comedy of trial and error, especially with the arrival of a fraudulent guy (Mirchi Shiva).
There are few filmmakers in the industry, who own a specific genre and formulae of their own. In incisive manner, we can term Sundar C as a predominant one among this league, who always keeps his audiences prepared on what to expect from his movies. This becomes a safe zone, where neither the expectations doesn’t scale higher graph nor do the disappointments occur as well. Such happens to be his recent outing ‘Kalakalappu 2’, which doesn’t offer anything new than his erstwhile movies, especially the exact paradigm of ‘Kalakalappu’. There are pretty much similarities, where the complete story revolves around a treasure with two dozen characters played by famous actors keep rounding upon it. This goes blended with couple of love stories, where the twist comes through the point of intermission. Last time it was with Santhanam and now with Mirchi Shiva, where there are two locations, one in first hour and second half in another backdrop. Obviously, these are the most noticeable similarities that we find between Kalakalappu and Kalakalappu 2. Sundar C’s planning and execution always proves to be a major success. To see that he has shot the entire film with huge star-cast within a short span of time with grandeur needs an appreciation. Musical score by Hip Hop Aadhi has been very well shot by cinematography UK Senthil. On the flip side, there is slight dragging moments in second hour, especially the climax that is too much stretched.
It is a much demanding situation for both Jiiva and Jai, where they are in need of desperate hit. Kalakalappu 2 will definitely be an escalating movie in their career graph. If you’re keenly looking out for their performances, they are ritually inclined to what heroes in Sundar C movies usually do. Sundar C has always showcased his heroines in glamorous adequacy. Over here, Catherine Tresa and Nikki Galrani get to reapprove of such exemplification and they are sure to throw a lavish glamorous treat to youth groups. Mirchi Shiva appears only by the point of intermission, but he keeps you addicted to his one liner in second half. Manobala, VTV Ganesh, Singam Puli, Yogi Babu, Singamuthu, Satish, Robo Shankar and many other prominent actors. They just keep you involved in laughter riot with their portions.
2. Hilarious episodes in Sundar C style
What doesn’t work?
1. The running length
2. Little dragging climax
On the whole, Kalakalappu 2 is a film that you can go watch it in theatres without any second thoughts. Especially, if you’re well used to the presentation of Sundar C trademark style.
Verdict : Doesn’t disappoint the lovers of ‘Sundar C’ films
