BANANA SHAKE FOR 10 DAYS: The most common home remedies can sometimes do wonders for our body. FAVOURITE FRUIT: As a child, my favourite fruit was bananas. I loved its sweet flavour and it filled my stomach faster after playing for hours. Since my mother knew I loved eating bananas, she used to give me banana shake more as a treat rather than a nutritional drink.
HUNGER WOOS: It is because of this habit that I was never a cranky kid. All my hunger woos were answered with a banana. Gradually, as I grew up, I started to get onto junk food to relieve my hunger stricken stomach rather than my beloved fruit. I ate everything possible from doughnuts to laddoos to cakes to satiate my sweet tooth. And as is expected, I gained at least 15 kgs of weight.
WEIGHT GAIN ISSUES: One day while speaking to my mother and her screaming at me simultaneously about my weight, she told me that as a child she never had trouble with me. She went on to tell me about my fetish with bananas and how I had never been such an inactive child as I was then. Mothers can pass a childhood prophecy when you most need it and so did mine. I started replacing my ‘unhealthy’ breakfast everyday with banana shake.
PROBLEM SOLVED: I did this for 10 days to cleanse my body first. It detoxed myself from eating any junk every time I got a craving. I also added coffee or a teaspoon of peanut butter or strawberries to make variations in my banana milk shake everyday. Here are three major changes that happened to me:
I LOST 3 KGS: I guess when they tell you leaving processed sugar helps, it is true. I weighed 70 kgs when I had started and by the 10th day I weighed 67 kgs. Along with drinking banana milk shake every morning, I also went for walking, drank enough water and stuck to homemade food.
I HAD NO POOP ISSUES! Being a junk food regular, I had extreme digestive issues. I pooped once in three days and felt constipated and heavy all the time. Since banana is great for such digestive problems, this was sorted out once and for all.
LESSER CRAVINGS: Since I ate foods like momos or samosas once every day, it increased my craving for times even when my body was asking for water. When I started having banana shake, I realised I had automatically stopped looking for other unhealthy options. Little did I know that my childhood favourite could help me get back my health!
