Director Vijay Chander Is Confident With Sketching Out A Winner Cinema News
Vijay Chander is a happy man. Apart from his film getting a Pongal release, he is quite excited with the anticipation among the audience. “Sketch, apart from being a commercial film, will be known for its strong content and good performances from Vikram and Tamannaah,” he begins. The film is also important for its lead actor Vikram whose commercial vehicles like Rajapattai, Maja and 10 Endrathukulla bombed at the box office.
“Being a fan of Vikram, even I was disheartened to watch him in such films. So, I was very cautious that I shouldn’t be making such a film. Sketch will be a complete package. The audience will leave the theatres with a smile,” he says with confidence.
There were rumours doing the rounds that the film is a heist thriller based on car thefts in the city. The director clarifies, “No. I have been reading such news of late, but it’s not true. Only people in the team know what the story is about and you will know it in a few hours’ time. The suspense will unfold.”
While his last film Vaalu was a laugh riot, Sketch is quite different from the looks of it. “Sketch is a commercial entertainer. One cannot compare both these films. Also, things fell in place for Sketch since a performer like Vikram himself believed in the script. Apart from that, we have brilliant performers like Radharavi, Vela Ramamoorthy, RK Suresh, Aruldoss and Sriman among others. I’m sure we are set for a long theatrical run.”
The film will also see Vijay Chander as a singer and lyricist. “I have written a song called Kannave Kannave, which was crooned by Vikram. There is another number titled Atchi Putchi which I have written and crooned myself. Initially, I had apprehensions of whether I should pen the lyrics, but Vikram said, 'Nee ezhudhu da nalla irukum'. That was the motivation for me,” he signs off.
