Jigarthanda: Actress Tamannaah To Reprise Lakshi Menon’s Role In Hindi Version Cinema News
It is reported from sources close to ‘milky beauty’ Tamannaah that the actress has been approached to play the lead role in the Hindi version of Tamil super-hit film Jigarthanda which was directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
The black comedy-crime filled Jigarthanda was the second film as director for Subbaraj, who had debuted as film-maker with the 2012 hit film Pizza. Even superstar Rajinikanth remarked after the success of Jigarthanda that he would have loved to portray the character of ‘Assault Sethu’ played with aplomb by Bobby Simha in the film for which he also won the national award for ‘best supporting actor’.
Siddharth and Lakshmi Menon played the lead roles in the film which is about an assistant director’s dream of making it big in films. Tamannaah is presently shooting in the picturesque locales of Paris, France for the Telugu version of the Bollywood super-hit film Queeen in which she plays the protagonist’s role essayed by Kangna Ranaut in Hindi (for which she won the national award for ‘best actress’).
National award-winning actor-producer Ajay Devgn would be producing the film jointly in association with Abhinav Shukla, it is reported. Nishikanth Kamat would be directing the untitled venture for which Sanjay Dutt, yesteryear’s popular hero, has been roped in to reprise the character essayed by Bobby Simha in the Tamil version.
While the Tamil version was shot in the backdrop of Madurai, the Hindi version would be shot in the backdrop of a small town in Maharashtra. Farhan Akthar would be essaying Siddharth’s role. Tamannaah has been approached to play Lakshmi Menon’s role but she hasn’t yet signed along the dotted lines.
