Pm Modi, Netanyahu Pay Homage To Martyrs At Delhi's Teen Murti Haifa Chowk India News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday attended a ceremony at the Teen Murti Memorial in National Capital to mark the renaming of Teen Murti Chowk as Teen Murti Haifa Chowk. The two leaders also laid a wreath and signed the visitor’s book at the memorial. The three bronze statues at Teen Murti represent the Hyderabad, Jodhpur and Mysore Lancers who were part of the 15 Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade.
Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and his wife Sara, arrived in India on a 6-day visit. He was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi.
On Monday, the visiting dignitary will be given a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhawan which will be followed by the wreath laying at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Netanyahu and PM Modi will also hold delegation level talks. The two sides will sign agreements and also issue a joint press statement. The Israeli PM will call on President Ram Nath Kovind later in the day. He (Netanyahu) will also visit Gujarat and Mumbai.
Notably, the visit by Israeli PM comes a little more than six months after Narendra Modi visited the Jewish state.
Netanyahu would be only the second Israeli Prime Minister to visit India since diplomatic relations were established between the two countries in 1992. His visit is happening almost 15 years after the first visit by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to New Delhi in 2003.
